The Sundsvall municipal group has taken a leading position in the digitalisation of municipal operations in Sweden through a digitalisation strategy that 
is based on increased digital accessibility and the provision of information.

Through digitalisation, a digital ecosystem, agile working in DevOps teams and APIs, a consistent point of contact with the municipal group is being established, regardless of whether the process spans several departments or companies. The foundation of this work is a clear API strategy as part of the overall digitalisation strategy.

Implementing the API strategy requires investment in IT infrastructure, including API management and solutions for creating and making APIs available. 
Sundsvall Municipality has also made the strategic decision to prioritise solutions based on open source code in order to avoid vendor lock-in and achieve the greatest possible flexibility and cost-effectiveness.

The council further contributes to digital development in society by building its own solutions, which are made available as open source.

Through a call-off under the Swedish Legal, Financial and Administrative Services Agency’s contract for software solutions, Sundsvall Municipality, via Redpill Linpro, has procured the open-source product WSO2 API Manager to provide the capacity required to publish, manage and monitor the APIs that are being developed and made available.

Redpill Linpro is also providing expert support for the installation, configuration and architecture of WSO2 API Manager.
